About Shoko Kanazawa
One of Japan’s most distinguished calligraphers, widely recognized as a calligrapher with Down syndrome. She has performed ceremonial calligraphy and held solo exhibitions at some of Japan’s most revered spiritual sites, including Ise Grand Shrine and Todai-ji Temple. Her international career includes successful exhibitions in New York, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Russia, and Taiwan. Notably, she donated her large-scale work “Prayer” to the Vatican and was awarded a gold medal by the Holy See. Her activities span a wide range, including delivering a speech at the United Nations, creating large-scale calligraphy at the National Sports Festival, and transcribing imperial poems composed by the Emperor.
Her calligraphy is both bold and delicate, captivating audiences around the world.
The work “Mutsumi,” which embodies our company philosophy, became her final commissioned piece.
